About the role

Assist in implementing childcare programs and assuring that each child is well cared for and safe. Provide routine care for infants and children in an instructional setting.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT

Full-time position. This position is contingent upon annual funding.

Responsibilities

Instructional Support

1. Plan, prepare materials, and implement daily learning activities for children.

2. Conduct age-appropriate activities for children in care including but not limited to reading to

children and teaching simple painting, drawing, crafts, and songs.

3. Observe and monitor children's play activities.

4. Maintain a neat and orderly classroom including organizing and storing toys,

materials, and personal items belonging to children.

5. Clean and sanitize furniture, equipment, toys, linens, diaper-changing areas, and other

classroom surfaces in accordance with established health and safety procedures.

6. Prepare meals and snacks, as assigned, ensuring appropriate sanitation and safe food

handling practices.

7. Maintain required records and documentation.

8. Conduct parent conferences at least twice each year in cooperation with the supervisor and

maintain positive communication with parents and families.

Student Management

9. Supervise children at all times and ensure safety and security of children in the classroom, on

outings, and to and from outside play areas.

10. Assist children with all physical functions such as feeding, diapering, toileting, walking, and

standing.

11. Identify and communicate special needs, concerns, or problems involving individual children

to the appropriate supervisor.

12. Observe and document developmental progress of children.

Safety

13. Follow district safety protocols, emergency protocols, and applicable state childcare

licensing requirements.

14. Follow established safety procedures and techniques when performing job duties, including

appropriate lifting and movement of children and equipment.

15. Maintain required certifications.

Other

16. Participate in faculty/staff meetings, special events, and staff development activities as

needed to improve job performance and meet state childcare licensing standards.

17. Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the supervisor.

Education

High School diploma or GED

Paraprofessional Certification

CPR/FA/AED preferred

Child Development Associates Credential (CDA) preferred

Meet the minimum requirements of a licensed daycare center classroom provider

Experience

Experience in a state licensed daycare center with 0-5 year old children required

Skills

Ability to read and verbally communicate with children, staff, and parents

Ability to work with groups of children in a positive manner

Ability to follow verbal and written instructions

Effective organizational and communication skills

Ability to relate to children and adults with courtesy, respect, acceptance, compassion, and patience
