About the role
Under moderate supervision by PEIMS Coordinator, assist in collecting and reporting district Public Education Information Management System (PEIMS) data.
Responsibilities
- Coordinate the collection, integration, and formatting of all data required for PEIMS submission according to Texas Education Agency PEIMS Data Standards.
- Work cooperatively with the campus, business office, and personnel office staff to collect, organize, and format data required to submit district PEIMS data according to prescribed state deadlines.
- Run edits, reports, and verification checks on data to ensure the accuracy of information. Distribute edits and reports to appropriate staff for analysis, verification, and correction.
- Deliver timely data entry support to campus registrars during peak registration periods by processing enrollment requests and record updates.
- Perform periodic internal audits to ensure compliance with PEIMS data standards and district policies.
- Submit complete and accurate PEIMS data in Texas Education Agency (TEA)-prescribed format to the education service center (ESC) for processing using a computer terminal or personal computer.
- Verify data submitted to TEA and submit corrections in a timely manner.
- Provide training and technical support to campuses and to business and personnel office staff responsible for processing PEIMS data.
- Receive PEIMS-related information from ESC and TEA, attend all regional PEIMS workshops, and disseminate information to other staff in a timely manner, including updates to PEIMS Data Standards.
- Attend all regional PEIMS workshops and disseminate information to appropriate staff.
- Assist in providing onsite support for new personnel.
- Compile, maintain, file, and distribute all reports, records, and other documents as required following established procedures.
- Keep informed of and comply with policies established by federal and state law, State Board of Education rule, and board policy.
- Attend meetings and work overtime as required.
- Daily attendance at work and punctuality are essential functions of the job.
- Comply with all district routines and regulations.
- Maintain confidentiality.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Education
- High school diploma or GED equivalent recognized by the Texas Education Agency or a regional accrediting agency.
- Three (3) years of experience in a school district administrative support position requiring collecting and entering data; experience using coding systems.
- Experience developing training materials and presentations.
- Must have satisfactory outcome of fingerprinting background check.
Skills
- Ability to maintain accurate and auditable records.
- Knowledge of the Student Attendance Accounting Handbook and PEIMS Data Standards
- Ability to use software to develop spreadsheets, perform data analysis, and word processing.
- Ability to meet established deadlines.
- Ability to understand detailed written or oral instructions.
- Proficient in keyboarding, 10-key numerical data entry, and file maintenance.
- Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.
- Ability to communicate effectively in both English and Spanish.
- Experience with Skyward, PEIMS and TSDS.
