About Krause's Cafe
Krause's Cafe traces its name to 1959, when Kermit Krause bought Gene's Place from his father and turned it into a noon-meal saloon known for beer, dominos, and card games. Today it is a German American cafe and biergarten on South Castell Avenue in downtown New Braunfels, open seven days a week for breakfast, lunch, and dinner.
The menu runs from schnitzels, bratwurst with sauerkraut, and Bavarian pretzels to burgers and potato soup, with a kids menu. The bierhalle holds what Krause's calls the largest tap wall in New Braunfels, more than 100 beers, alongside a full bar with wine, cocktails, and mocktails.
The outdoor biergarten has a stage with live music most nights and room for kids to play, plus a run of community events including karaoke Mondays, dachshund races, and an Oktoberfest celebration.
